Along with the U.S. and Canada, Mexico agreed to implement ISPM 15 measures beginning January 2, 2004, with enforcement of the rule in Mexico to begin September 16, 2005. In the meantime, Mexico will be notifying exporters if their shipments do not comply with ISPM 15. In November, 2003, Mexico established a national program for treating and marking wood packing material for wood exported from Mexico.
Additionally, we recommend stating the following on your commercial invoice and bill of lading: All packaging is ISPM15 compliant and is free of bark & dirt.
APPROVED / ISPM15 COMPLIANT PACKAGING:
- cardboard, plastic pallets, plastic containers, plastic crates
- manufactured wood products that have been created using glue, heat and pressure or a combination thereof (examples: plywood, particle board, press-wood, etc.)
- any wood crate, pallet or skid that has the appropriate ISPM15 stamp. |
