Like the U.S. and Mexico, as of January 2, 2004 Canada adopted ISPM 15 for wood packaging imported into Canada. Enforcement is targeted to begin September 16, 2005. Wood packaging originating in the U.S. will be exempt from the requirements.
Additionally, we recommend stating the following on your commercial invoice and bill of lading: All packaging is ISPM15 compliant and is free of bark & dirt.
APPROVED / ISPM15 COMPLIANT PACKAGING:
- cardboard, plastic pallets, plastic containers, plastic crates
- manufactured wood products that have been created using glue, heat and pressure or a combination thereof (examples: plywood, particle board, press-wood, etc.)
- any wood crate, pallet or skid that has the appropriate ISPM15 stamp.
